Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.

There are six important points in this passage.
a. Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses: We press on to overcome present discouragement as in an athletic competition.

b. Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin: Sin can hold us back and remove every hindrance that can keep you from running effectively the race God has for us.

c. The sin which so easily ensnares us: Let us lay them all aside.

d. Let us run with endurance: What is needed is endurance, to finish what we have begun in Jesus Christ – a race that is set before us.

e. The race that is set before us: Conflict or struggle of many kinds overcome them all.

f. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith: The ultimate champion of our faith.
