It is no surprise that David was called a man after God's own heart, for he recognised that God alone was His righteousness, and that God alone could be depended upon to relieve his distress, provide for his needs, defeat his enemies, and enlarge his blessings.
Psalm 4:8 - In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Dear God,
As I lie down for sleep tonight, wash over me with the warmth of Your love.
In Your mercy, soothe my pain, whether in my body, mind or soul.
O Lord our God, keep me in peace during this night and keep my heart
and thought secure in holy reverence for you,
so that we may be protected at all times from the snares of the enemy.
Grant me a restful night of sleep so that when I awake,
I'm strengthened to do Your will.
